Exploring face parts with gelatin

In our first unit, we explored basic body parts, including parts of the face. Recently, we wrapped up the unit with a fun, sensory-rich activity that helped reinforce what the children had learned in a memorable way.

Cards showing different face parts were hidden inside a large container of blue gelatin. One by one, the toddlers were invited to dig into the gelatin to find a card. Once a card was retrieved, the group named the face part together and, when possible, pointed to it on their own faces.

This activity served several important purposes: vocabulary reinforcement, as the children had to name the face part they found; sensory engagement, through touching and exploring the blue gelatin; and cross-topic integration, by combining two concepts from the unit, body parts and the color blue.

The children loved the activity, although at first they were a bit unsure about the texture of the gelatin. Some hesitated to touch it, finding the sensation unfamiliar. But by the end of the class, they were fully immersed, laughing, exploring, and enthusiastically digging for the cards. The classroom was filled with energy… and bits of blue gelatin scattered everywhere!

Explorando partes do rosto com gelatina 

Na nossa primeira unidade, exploramos partes do corpo, incluindo as partes do rosto. Recentemente, encerramos a unidade com uma atividade divertida e rica em estímulos sensoriais, que ajudou a reforçar de forma memorável o que as crianças haviam aprendido.

Cartinhas com diferentes partes do rosto foram escondidas dentro de um grande recipiente com gelatina azul. Um a um, os pequenos foram convidados a cavar na gelatina para encontrar uma carta. Assim que uma carta era encontrada, o grupo dizia em voz alta o nome da parte do rosto e, sempre que possível, apontava para essa parte em seu próprio rosto.

A atividade cumpriu vários propósitos importantes: reforço de vocabulário, já que as crianças precisavam nomear a parte do rosto que encontravam; estímulo sensorial, ao tocarem e explorarem a gelatina azul; e integração de conteúdos, ao unir dois conceitos da unidade, partes do corpo e a cor azul.

As crianças adoraram a atividade, embora no início tenham estranhado a textura da gelatina. Algumas hesitaram em tocá-la, achando a sensação incomum. Mas, ao final da aula, estavam completamente envolvidas, rindo, explorando e cavando com entusiasmo em busca dos cartões. A sala ficou cheia de energia... e com pedacinhos de gelatina azul espalhados por todos os cantos!
